Test_lab: Urban Play in Action: Arturo Hernández Alcázar Video Clips. Duration : 16.83 Mins.
More info: www.v2.nl Featuring Stichting de Stad, Stealth Unlimited, Arturo Hernandez, on-signal.org, Pablo Valbuena, Edwin van der Heide and many others. Urban Play can be described as 'designing the city' and is considered common ground for architects and city planners on the one hand, and designers, artists, and performers on the other. Theory on Urban Play prophesises new forms of interactive spaces, stretching from virtual game-spaces to physical architectural spaces, as discussed by Friedrich von Borries et al. (eds.) in the book Space Time Play for instance. Furthermore, exhibitions such as Droog Event 2: Urban Play (curated by Scott Burnham) have clearly shown Urban Play's potential in the design field. In practice, however, only few architects and city planners realise the potential of Urban Play; only seldom do they contact designers, artists, or performers when faced with a tough urban planning case. This special edition of Test_Lab proposes to look into the true practical value of the notion of Urban Play by physically visiting a concrete case in urban development. There, game designers, media artists, and urban performers are invited to demonstrate how their work could contribute to the challenges faced by architects and city planners in their daily practice. Can game designers, media artists, and urban performers live up to the predictions made by theory on the notion of Urban Play? Are these new forms of social interaction and uses of the city, these new ...

TR Cutting School -Shingo Sato en Action à Paris Video Clips. Duration : 14.83 Mins.
La Technique TR démonstration à Atelier Chardon Savard Paris 19/11/2010 Paris TR technique is a more intuitive, organic design process than the conventional +1/-1 mathematical based pattern cutting systems you may be used to. TR technique allows through trial and error, the discovery of chanced upon happy mistakes. By trying to figure out tricky design combinations, or by alternating your vantage points you can serendipitously arrive at unforeseen creative solutions or even more Avant Garde destinations than were originally foreseen. Sometimes you might completely mess up and sometimes these mistakes will be a much better end result than what you were hoping to achieve; they may very well replace your initial idea, becoming the new unforeseen outcome to your trials. Perhaps you might set out to challenge conventional rules further and set yourself many more goals and trials! Do not assume your first toile is the only outcome when you first try out the TR concept, as many more prototypes could become promising solutions. These prototypes could also become potential sources of inspiration setting you off in other inquisitive directions. The aim really is to experiment and base your research on the most promising and appropriate prototypes that are relevant to your initial project brief. www.trpattern.com
