The new Logan Heights Branch Library opened December 11, 2009. This incredible two-story, 25000-square-foot branch library quickly became the heart of the Logan Heights community, replacing the original 3967-square-foot facility built in 1927. In a unique arrangement, the library is on the Logan Elementary School grounds and adjacent to Memorial Charter Middle School. The Library is regularly visited by classes during school hours and filled with students before and after school, who use the Library to do homework, receive free tutoring, access computers and participate in art, music and dance classes. The Library's collection expanded nearly two-fold and includes a strong Spanish-language collection. The new facility has 66 public computers (compared to 10 at the old site) and two early literacy computers for toddlers.
