There is happiness around, a blaze of colors and lights, a celebration of cheering and smiling people, voices and gestures that express agreement and participation. The Avenida Cambó [41°23'11N-02°10'40E], the area where the project is located, is an isolated fragment from the main lines of the urban tissue then returns to life after years of isolation and marginalization. The project, begun as restoration of the old market, has expanded to include the redevelopment of the entire district on an urban scale, the proposal sought by designers EMBT architects (Enric Miralles & Benedetta Tagliabue [www.mirallestagliabue.com and well received by the client, l'Ayuntamento de Barcelona. The project started in 1997 and completed in May 2005 shows to the city with a language "kaleidoscopic and hybrid", able to communicate with the story, that of the district, but also that of the archaeological sites discovered during construction, and in the same time to transmit an eccentric, colorful, informal atmosphere.
