Mark Foster Gage on "Aqueous Mass" Tube. Duration : 4.33 Mins.


The architectural futurists at the firm Gage / Clemenceau are designing interactive installations that will live in the lobbies of W Hotels destinations around the world as part of Four Stories short film series and competition. Intel-inspired Ultrabooks TM will be at the center of these installations providing information about the series. The Ultrabook™ Experience sat down with Mark Gage, one of the firm's principle architects, at his studio in Manhattan's Lower East Side and discussed why he loves film, the aspects of mobility that inspired the creation of the installations titled "Aqueous Mass," and how collaboration across disciplines is a vital aspect of what's next in designing technologically-advanced, interactive environments.

"The Journey" is a lighting sculpture (2010) designed by Robert Foster of Fink and co in collaboration with Frost* and Coolon lighting. LED's inside the plexiglas forms change colour with preprogrammed DMX sequences 24/7 and interact to viewers movement using 5 motion sensors. Commisioned by ACTEWAGL the dynamic work covers an area of 300 square metres and the 37 Ossolites range in height from 1m to 3 m.
