In this video, we look at the southern part of Detroit in game. A number of ideas are introduced, including the use of mythology and symbolism in the game, the pros and cons of using concept artwork as the basis of architectural design and the use of contrasting architectural styles to express the conflict between the past and the future, the disadvantaged and the privileged.

In this video, we look at the interior areas of the buildings in Detroit. We first visit the apartment of the main character, Adam Jensen, and discuss how the design of that space relates to the character. After that, we look at the interior of the Detroit Police Department, the first gameplay area. The point is made that gameplay areas generally have fewer narrative elements, and vice versa. Finally, we visit Derelict Row, another gameplay area. While this area functions well for the purposes of gameplay, the spaces make little sense for the functions that the building would have served, highlighting the compromise between realism and playability.
