Useppa is a truly private Island Club dedicated to the pure art of relaxation and recreation of members, owners and guests. Useppa Island is situated within the famous tropical isles of the Southwest coast of Florida; only a fifteen minute boat ride from the rigors of the mainland while the world seems a million miles away. This video focuses on Rum Cove Cottage located on Useppa Island. The home features windows and doors that are able to withstand 150 mph wind speeds and conform to large missile impact standards. The homes pilings are driven down 20 below the earth, allowing for the dramatic scouring forces during a storm and the lattice below the cottage has been constructed with a minimum 50% open area to allow for greater flow through of flood waters. The home is also equipped with a full back-up generator and propone tank to be able to run the home for up to two weeks. This home has also been designed and built taking into account Floridas statewide green building program and provides an exterior with maintenance-light material.
