Imagine to graze with the fingers a bundle of light's strings, stretched through a huge architectural space. It comes out the sound of a harp, the architecture turns into a big cord device whose music is the one most liked by the gods, since it expresses the Harmony of the Heaven Spheres (Ovidium, Methamorphosis, book 11). Following this sound, like Pitagora, we turn our gaze upwards thus discovering that our musical action creates also a wonderful series of light's events. If tapped by swinging objects, the laser harp is sensitive to the visitor's movements and to hear and see are carried out by the very same gesture. This Laser Harp is realized from cooperation between Gianpietro Grossi- Laser Engineer, Francesco Murano-Light Designer and Pietro Pirelli-Musician and visual artist. It is capable to lay from 4 up to more than 20 mt straightaway. Achieving this long dimensions, we begun to set the laser rays as we wanted to put into vibration the architecture, which becomes resonating chamber of the 11 tightened light strings. Laser harps had been already presented since many ears, but our effort was to move from the technical invention towards a real piece of art and poetry , able to evoque a new expressive universe. In fact with Arpa di Luce we deeply developed musical expressivity and variety. We observed then that musical action on the strings was creating extraordinary sequences of light vibrations, as well. Music continues to be heard even if sound is silent.
