The 2012 Global Practices in Architecture Lecture Series invites expert educators and practitioners from around the world to the Twin Cities to share unique perspectives and insights about the Architecture profession. Known for architecture that is spatially complex and structurally innovative, Dr. Hitoshi Abe is one of the the most important architects in Japan. His firm, Atelier Hitoshi Abe, has designed well-known project ranging from the Miyagi stadium (2000) and the Reihoku community hall, which received the 2003 Architectural Institute of Japan award, to the The Kanno Museum of Art near Sendai, Japan. Dr. Abe earned his M.Arch. from SCI-ARC in Los Angeles in 1988 and his Ph.D. from Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan in 1993. His decade-long distinguished career as a leader in education began at the Tohoku Institute of Technology (Sendai, Japan) where he taught from 1994 to 2007.
