art-history.concordia.ca The Department of Art History offers both MA and PhD graduate programs. The Master of Arts program in Art History focuses on the history and theory of North American art. The MA program was the first in Canada devoted to Canadian art, and it remains the centerpiece of our transcultural, interdisciplinary department. The PhD in Art History is an inter-university program administered jointly by Concordia University, Université de Montréal, Université du Québec à Montréal and Université Laval. The PhD program encompasses the full spectrum of historical, modern, and contemporary periods, while also fostering critical and interdisciplinary modes of interpretation. Graduate students in Art History are actively contributing to fields such as the history of photography, feminist traditions of art history, First Nations art history, cross-cultural studies and globalization, material and visual culture, architectural history, craft history, new media studies, museum studies, and historiography of the discipline.
