ACAK dibalik KACA... hubungi bambang 0816640448 atau 081321497220 alfigallery@gmail.com website www.alfigallery.blogspot.com LUKISAN KACA is a little known indonesian art form. Literally "glass painting", it originated on the northern coast of West Java about the fifteenth century, and progressed to become a common feature in architectural decoration. Once sold door-to-door, the quality, style and value of lukisan kaca is on the rise. Today, glass painting is enjoying a revival, with the techniques and innovative subject matter making it increasingly popular. The best canvas painter in the world would be challenged to paint on glass. It takes a long time to learn, not least because it involves painting the image in reverse. As the art work is painted on the back of the glass, the front of the design is the first layer seen in the finished piece. Initially, the artist traces intricate details in black ink, with a finished drawing placed underneath the glass a the guide. There are no second takes. Steady patience and a sure hand are essential. The black ink ensures fine details remain distinct after vivid colors are applied. Special paint, normally used for detailing ironwork, ensures resilience and strong permanent color in the painting. AVA GALLERY ARTIST TALK by Jennilie Brewster Tube. Duration : 21.35 Mins.

A multi-media installation by Jennilie Brewster of Brooklyn, New York and Daniele Genadry, formerly of Hanover, New Hampshire will be on display in AVA Gallery and Art Centers EN Wennberg Gallery from September 5 through October 4, 2008. A reception, free and open to the public, will take place Friday, September 5, from 5 to 7pm. Brewster and Genadrys multi-media installation explores the perceptual, material, architectural, and metaphorical possibilities of the optical phenomenon Fata Morgana a form of mirage that occurs mostly in polar regions and in high mountain valleys, where images may seem to vibrate, stretch, flip, and multiply, blurring the line between the real and the imagined. Brewster is a large-scale painter who recently worked on site-specific installations that explore issues of land use. She holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York and an MFA from Bard College. Genadrys work finds expression in paintings, wall installations, woodcuts, and multiple-screen prints. The experience of living in multiple places recent years have brought her to Beirut, Como, Hanover, London, and Rome is reflected in her landscapes, which address the temporal and physical shifts of such experiences. After receiving a BA from Dartmouth College in 2002, Genadry worked as an intern at AVA, prior to her move to London, where she recently received an MFA from the Slade School of Art.

Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2010 - Jean Nouvel Tube. Duration : 1.78 Mins.

"This year the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion is designed by world-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel. This 2010 Pavilion is the 10th commission in the Gallery's annual series, the world's first and most ambitious architectural programme of its kind. It will be the architect's first completed building in the UK. The Pavilion commission has become an international site for architectural experimentation and follows a long tradition of Pavilions by some of the world's greatest architects. The immediacy of the commission -- a maximum of six months from invitation to completion -- provides a unique model worldwide. The design for the 2010 Pavilion is a contrast of lightweight materials and dramatic metal cantilevered structures. The entire design is rendered in a vivid red that, in a play of opposites, contrasts with the green of its park setting. In London, the colour reflects the iconic British images of traditional telephone boxes, post boxes and London buses. The building consists of bold geometric forms, large retractable awnings and a sloped freestanding wall that stands 12m above the lawn. Striking glass, polycarbonate and fabric structures create a versatile system of interior and exterior spaces, while the flexible auditorium will accommodate the Serpentine Gallery Park Nights and Marathon and the changing summer weather. Nouvel's Serpentine Gallery Pavilion operates as a public space, a café and as a venue for Park Nights, the Gallery's acclaimed programme of public ...
