Zaha Hadid n'a cessé, tout au long de sa carrière, de repousser les limites de l'architecture urbaine. Anglaise, d'origine irakienne, elle est diplômée de la prestigieuse Architectural Association School of Architecture de Londres, où elle enseignera, plus tard, dans les années 80. Son style se caractérise par une prédilection pour les entrelacs de lignes tendues et de courbes, les angles aigus, les plans superposés, qui donnent à ses créations complexité et légèreté. Elle est la première femme à obtenir le prix Pritzker en 2004. En 2006, une rétrospective de son œuvre a eu lieu au Guggenheim Museum de New York, honneur qui n'avait échu, avant elle, qu'à un seul architecte. L'une de ses toutes dernières réalisations le MAXXI (Musée des Arts du XXIe siècle) de Rome, s'est vu attribuer le très prestigieux Stirling Prize, décerné par le Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Zaha Hadid est la fondatrice du cabinet de design architectural Zaha Hadid Architects dont le siège est situé à Londres.

The exhibition Form in Motion at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is the first in the United States that features her product designs. On display are works such as her three-wheeled Z-car I, Swarovski crystal--encrusted necklaces and bracelets, and shoes made for Lacoste and Melissa. The Zephyre sofa and the Z-Chair make their US-debut in this show. The objects are presented in a architectural design by Zaha Hadid.
